SILVER LAKE FARM
For Katie and I, raising healthy, natural food on our own farm was a dream we had been talking about for many years. That dream started coming to life in 2007 with the purchase of eight acres near Silver Lake in Reidville, SC. A few years later Silver Lake Farm was born. Fast forward five years and we were not only enjoying all that healthy food we dreamed of growing for ourselves, but were also sharing it with our friends and neighbors. Now, thirteen years later, we've moved our working farm to eighteen beautiful acres in Woodruff, SC.
Being stewards of the land has been a very satisfying way of life for us. But even more important, we're so pleased to be able to continue providing the same healthy, natural food goodness our customers have come to

HAND GATHERED FRESH EGGS
Chickens...I don’t even know where to begin because chickens are just so cool! Here at our farm, our sweet hens lay their eggs in dry nesting boxes brimming with soft straw. When they’ve laid an egg, they noisily announce it & the rest of the flock loudly celebrates with them. Our girls are able to forage vigorously for bugs, grubs and other nutritious things that naturally give their yolks a rich orange color. Grab a dozen and taste and see the difference fresh makes in eggs from Silver Lake Farm.
PASTURE RAISED SMALL HERD BEEF
Pick up burgers and steaks for your grill from Silver Lake Farm. We’ve been told by many of our customers that they love the taste and texture of grass-fed beef and we can’t blame them. That’s because we raise small, happy herds of cattle like they did generations ago, with kindness and respect for the animal. We happen to agree with our customers, it is delicious! Try it out yourself.
FREE RANGE CHICKEN
Let’s start with the term ‘Free Range'. On our farm that means 24/7 fresh air and green grass. Our chickens raised for meat are in a ‘chicken tractor.’ The 'chicken tractor' is pushed forward daily which provides them with fresh grass & bugs to eat. The end result is chicken that is superior in taste and tenderness. Come experience the difference.
PASTURED HERITAGE PORK
When we first ate our own pasture raised pork we were shocked at the difference in color and marbling. We focus on raising heritage pork. This not only helps sustain breeds that are endangered but we have found this meat to be superior in flavor. Because everything we grow at Silver Lake Farm is grown with care, our pork looks better, smells better, and tastes better. Experience it for yourself!
When it comes to pollinating our food, Honey Bees are an extremely important part of that process. Did you know a Honey Bee can travel up to 2 miles to find nectar and pollen? We’re glad that our farm has been able to make a contribution to sustaining honey bees in our area. We do a single extraction of honey from our hives in early summer. Come experience what local flower nectar and pollen taste like when our Honey Bees transform them into natural, unprocessed honey!
